Balloon Payment
Large lump sum payment representing the balance of the mortgage loan. These payments are structured such that they are due 3-5 years after the initiation of the loan, regardless of the amortization schedule.
Balloon Payments can be quite risky for commercial real estate investors, as the payment may come due at a challenging time of growth.
Commercial loan productss that do not require balloon payments may be a good idea.
