Basis Point (BP)
The smallest measure used for quoting yields in the bond market is a basis point. One basis point is usually 0.01 percent of a bond's yield.
Basis points are also used for interest rates on mortgages or commercial loans.
For example, an interest rate of 5 percent is 50 basis points greater than an interest rate of 4.5 percent.
